Greetings Democrats!

Thank you for caucusing. Based on past years mid-term turnout, we had a successful turnout. We doubled our 2014 attendance numbers.

We are pleased to call a meeting of the Committee on Committees and Central Committee on Saturday, Feb 17, 2018, @ 10 am

Please note that this meeting location has changed!

We will now meet at:

The purpose of the Committee on Committee Meeting is to begin planning the County Convention that will take place on March 24th at West High School.

You must be in-line or signed-in by 7:00pm to participate

Sign in begins at 6:30 pm

The Woodbury Democrats will meet at the following location(s):

Precinct 1-9 – West High School, 2001 Casselman St, Sioux City

Precinct 10-19 – North High School, 4200 Cheyenne Blvd, Sioux City

Precinct 20-27 – East Middle School, 5401 Lorraine Ave, Sioux City

Precinct 28-31 – Community United Methodist Church, 101 Baker drive, Sgt Bluff

Precinct 32-37 – Woodbury Central High School, 408 S 4th Street, Moville

Precinct 38-39 – Community United Methodist Church, 101 Baker Drive, Sgt Bluff

Precinct 40-44 – Woodbury Central High School, 408 S 4th Street, Moville

The purpose of this year’s caucus is to:

  1. Discuss and adopt proposed resolutions to be added to the county platform.
  2. Elect Delegates and Alternates to the County Convention
  3. Elect Precinct Committee Persons to the County Central Committee

The precinct caucus is a great way to get involved in grassroots activities with the Iowa Democratic Party.

All Iowa Democrats are encouraged to attend.

There will be limited time to request a vote by mail. We are encouraging everyone to vote in person. If you do submit a request a ballot – it must be in by January 5.

If possible, vote early and in person. You can find out how to do that below.

THE THREE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN VOTE!!!

  1. VOTE AT AUDITOR’S OFFICE
    1. Beginning late on Jan 8th, the auditor’s office is open for voting.
    2. The Auditor’s office will be open on Saturday, January 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    3. The Auditor’s office will be open on Monday, January 15th from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for early voting
  2. SATELLITE VOTING;
    1. A satellite voting station will be open at Morningside Bible Church (old Bill Sunday) at 6100 Morningside Ave on the following dates.
    2. Saturday, January 13 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
    3. Monday, January 15 from 9 a.m. until 4:00 pm.
  3. ELECTION DAY
    1. On Election Day, Tuesday, January 16 from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm
    2. There will 10 polling places open and they will be operated as vote centers, any eligible voter can vote at any polling place

Friday, Dec 8Absentee Ballot by Mail Request Deadline. Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail. Deadline is 5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec 9, County Auditors’ Offices Open. The county auditor’s office must be open for at least eight hours for absentee voting and other election business.

Monday, December 11:  Absentee Ballot In-Person Deadline. This is the last day to request and vote an absentee ballot in person at auditor’s office

Tueday, December 12Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Absentee ballots may be delivered to the county auditor’s office until 9 p.m

Harry Hopkins was born in Sioux City, and in the 1930’s and 1940’s was President Roosevelt’s key aid, adviser, personal envoy to plan with Winston Churchill, and who oversaw the WPA program that put people back to work during the depths of the Great Depression.
